Oh, no lab simulations. My dad worked on the first hydrogen bomb blast at the Anawitok Atol, and many others at the Nevada tests sites through the 1950s. He got caught in fallout a couple of times. He was radioactive when I was conceived. That’s probably has a lot to do with the cancers.

I bet superiors knew even back then how harmful being exposed to radiation is, which makes it criminal letting people get exposed.

They knew the issues. The problem was they kept miscalculating the strength of the blasts and the area of the fall out. My mom got a huge settlement from the government over dad’s exposure to radiation. My dad died a few years before all the paperwork was completed and the settlement was paid.
