Two ads designed for Denon Home Cinema amplifiers and DVD players for Kinotechniki. One year apart, under the same concept “Listen • See • Feel… Think Denon”. On the second ad, we added the eagle, as “Flying Very High” was added to the slogan. These ads can be challenging because of all the technical details that have to be added. But, we like challenges!

  1. Beautiful ads. Denon was the high end stuff over here. We had a HiFi store in town years ago where we could go look at and listen the the really high and amps, speakers and turntables we could never afford.

    1. Here too, as well as many other -mainly Japanese brands like Nakamichi, Accuphase, Luxman, Yamaha etc- Many of them either pose proudly in our livingroom or are hiding in storage [hard to find parts], due to my father’s ears! His hearing was so good that many companies selling high end stuff would invite him to evaluate sound systems, hence quite a few of them ended up home […for me to try out, as a curious 6yr old, eager to listen to music tee hee!!!].

      1. I’ve had Fischer, TEAC, Technics, Yamaha, and Pioneer that I can remember. I don’t remember what the brand of my current amp is, but it’s 1000 watts per channel. I built speaker systems many years ago. I still use a set of speakers I built around 1978. It’s hard to find better sounding speakers. When I play music for people from my computer through the 1000w amp to my old customs speakers, they marvel at the sound quality. A lot of young people have no idea what high fidelity really is.

Here’s a funny story, back in 1977 or so, Joel Lewis, who you have heard play on some of my songs, stole several road signs from the highways. He brought me the signs, and I designed and built him speaker enclosures using those road signs. He had the coolest looking speaker enclosures around. He still talks about those enclosures.

        1. On high fidelity, I seriously doubt you’ll get many people who can distinct analog from digital! Your speakers sound brilliant!!! I still remember the experience of listening to the Rite of Spring (no wonder it’s often used for tests) from a direct cut label (Sheffield Lab) out of those ‘monsters’…
How wonderful!!! Do you have a photo of those speakers you made for your friend? I bet he still talks about them!

          1. I don’t have photos. In 1977 I didn’t do a lot of photos. I’ll see if he has photos of them.

  2. Lol! Still in the days when no matter what one sold, there had to be a pretty girl!

    1. He really is! That particular one was done by both and yes, the pretty girl was a must [or boy… I’ll be posting another add we did where I had to choose the male model for the photography. Weird experience to be honest. 😉 ]
