This was a 100 page edition with an abundance of information about the European Union and a challenge to organize them all into an informative edition. One of those projects that have very little artistic freedom yet offer the designer another field -as interesting- to explore. That of making a considerable amount of information as clear and pleasant as possible, to read. The cover art is an etching by Apostolos Koustas, “The Abduction of Europe”. • Αυτή ήταν μία έκδοση 100 σελίδων με ένα πλούτο πληροφοριών για την Ευρωπαϊκή Ενωση, πρόκληση ως προς την οργάνωσή της. Μία από αυτές τις δουλειές, που αν και έχουν ελάχιστη καλλιτεχνική ελευθερία, έχουν ενδιαφέρον ως προς τον σχεδιασμό τους με τρόπο τέτοιο ώστε να είναι φιλικός στον αναγνώστη. Το έργο του εξωφύλλου είναι χαρακτικό του Απόστολου Κούστα, “Η αρπαγή της Ευρώπης”.

The design is excellent. It looks like there are mini histories of each country in the EU among the pages? Did you have to write or rewrite the info or was it all given to you to make sense out of it graphically?

Ah, thank you, my friend! The info was given to me and I had to organize and decide how ‘parallel’ topics would be designed. The countries mini histories were the easiest part of the edition. The rest of it had an overwhelming amount of info [including charts, photo credits, additional info etc]. But as you have already guessed, the more challenging a job, the better to me! 😉
