That is a really gorgeous brochure. The layout is really pleasing and inviting. I really like the stylized letters at the beginning of each section. I assume the HAIC loved it.

Thank you, my friend. Yes, they did. Not the easiest project we’ve had. Especially as there were quite a few people involved and the context needed a lot of work to make it look more …attractive. But it was a great collaboration. As unbelievable as it may seem, I had a lot of fun with the stats pages! 😉

Admirable. I’ve lost touch with numbers many years ago. Now I see them as …images! 🤣😂

When Laurie was working on her master’s degree in pure math, I did a lot of research for her. When people would ask what was pure math good for I would hold up my iPhone and say “this is the product of what mathematicians were doing with pure math 25 years ago. Pure math is what makes the future.” What I discovered doing research for Laurie’s projects is that a lot of the math she had me researching for her was the math that was used to develop the technologies used for digital music, digital images and many of the functions in what have become personal digital devices. It gave me a slightly different understanding of the amazingly complex world of digital music and images. Seeing numbers as images another way of crunching on them in our digital world.

How sweet of you to help out and do research for Laurie’s projects! I can understand how interesting it is to see pure maths …applied and yes, music is too. I remember a friend telling me that many of my compositions use a golden rule. He explained it in maths, which I understood back then, but forgot it the very next day! Something about a certain number of bars before changing harmony/rhythm which [supposedly] makes music more pleasantly heard. I think I choose to forget such things as I do not want to be influenced by them.

I think we learn the golden rules for music, graphic and photo compositions by listening to music and by studying fine art and photography. After a while not only do those rules become instinctive, how to break those rules successfully becomes instinctive as well
